Baltimore mom who smacked son during riots: "I don't want him to be a Freddie Gray"

The Baltimore mother caught on video repeatedly smacking her son after catching him participating in rioting in Baltimore told CBS News that she was only concerned about protecting him.

"He gave me eye contact. And at that point, you know, not even thinking about cameras or anything like that. That's my only son and at the end of the day I don't want him to be a Freddie Gray," Toya Graham said, referencing the 25-year-old man who died after mysteriously sustaining severe spinal injuries in police custody earlier in the month. His death has sparked protests throughout the city, with tensions boiling over Monday.
Graham told CBS News she launched into action after spotting her 16-year-old son Michael wearing a hoodie and mask amid the

STASI: SUPREME COURT WEIGHS UP GAY MARRIAGE RIGHTS

The last weeks of April 2015 may go down as among the most important in LGBT history.
On Friday night, Olympic great Bruce Jenner showed Diane Sawyer that it takes a hell of a man to admit he’s a woman. And 17 million people tuned in for what many expected to be yet another tasteless Kardashian circus but turned out to be perhaps the most honest interview about the most difficult subject in TV history.
Yesterday, however, it was a whole other contest of Olympian proportions as the Supreme Court heard arguments for and against gay marriage.
Is it a states rights issue or judicial issue? Do we redefine the definition of marriage? Does a state that bans gay marriage need to honor a marriage performed in another state? Are same-sex couples being denied dignity by

AFTER THE QUAKE, NEPAL NEEDS A TECHNOLOGY UPGRADE MORE THAN EVER

After last Saturday's devastating earthquake, locals and tourists here in Kathmandu—Nepal's capital and largest city—hunger for news and the ability to communicate with friends and family. That means that the hunt for Internet access is almost as intense as the search for clean water and food. But it's an often frustrating one—and connectivity issues threaten to stand in the way of Nepal's recovery.
I'm a former technology journalist who's been traveling in India and Nepal for the past two months. It's the tail end of an 18-month world tour, one of the best investments I've ever made.
When I got to Nepal, I did what people do here. In Kathmandu, I toured the sites in Pashupatinath, and Durbar Square. I then traveled to Pokhara to hike a section of Annapurna. I was still in Pokhara when the earthquake hit, but my journalist's instinct told me to return to

Maryland governor promises to protect Baltimore as new looting is reported

The governor of Maryland promised Tuesday to put the appropriate assets in place to prevent further looting that was seen in Baltimore in the past 24 hours in reaction to the funeral of Freddie Gray, a young black man who died while in police custody.

Rawlings-Blake was under intense pressure to defend her response to the violence that has ripped apart her city following Gray's funeral, particularly her remarks in which she
